So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. When Samuel poured the anointing oil upon the head of David, he was filled with the Spirit of God. The name David means beloved of God Lesson Introduction: While serving King Saul, David became close friends with the king's son, Jonathan. Over time, David and Jonathan became as close as brothers. However, as David gained popularity with the people, King Saul's jealousy grew into hatred and he began to plot to kill David.
